Peppa (as in Salt & Pepper) is our family pet pig. She is the only “true-pet” on our hobby-farm. Peppa, aka Pepita, was one of several “surprise” pets to the homestead over the years. Surprise to my husband, that is. We’ve learned MUCH since bringing her home and have more to learn.

We quickly learned the origins of, Pig in a Blanket. She’d take her blanket & rearrange it into the perfect roll on top of her doggy bed.

House-training her was easier than our dogs. She loved the piggy-treats and still wags with enthusiasm when she gets ’em. Her regular piggy-feed is reputable but always added to with fresh veggies and fruits from our home garden.

Once we could no longer carry her in & out of the house, too many stairs, she transitioned to an outdoor-only-piggy. She’s never once complained about the move to outside and spends her days lounging kiddy-poolside, bowling for chickens, making muddy puddles and ruling the yard with an iron hoof.

She shares her home with our chickens plus one duck, Don Quixote – who found his life’s purpose in protecting her. He’s clearly chasing windmills as no fur nor feathered creature with sense has dared to tango with Miss Pepita. Feel free to post any questions you have below on their care or co-habitation of chickens, ducks, guineas and piggy. Always happy to share funny anecdotes and lessons learned.

Peppa is a social lady enjoying morning walks and dewy grazing with a side of hell-raising (digging up the front lawn).

More to come!

Had to put on my cool glasses to type this…
