Ok, this one is another outstanding Howell Mountain winery & vineyard again. It’s a nice, windy (yes, a lot of turns and bends) 15 minute drive up from St. Helena to Howell Mountain.
Beautiful scenery on a steep incline with vibrant fruit. Immediately you are emerged into another Napa Valley experience.
The NEAL family resides on this property where you are also privately tasting in their gorgeous estate tasting room.
Mark Neal, the owner works and is at one with the organic vineyards. He is hands on with his children who help out on the biodynamic and certified organic vineyards in Howell Mountain and Rutherford.
The wine that is produced here is expressive, concentrated with dense texture finishes.
You start typically with a Vermentino (white wine), an Italian varietal from the Rutherford Dust vineyard. NEAL Family vineyards offers some powerful Cabernet Sauvignons from their Howell Mountain Estate (different variations) as well as Zinfandels from the Rutherford vineyards.
If you are lucky, they still have some of their own Greek & Italian Varietal Olive Oil from the Howell Mountain and Rutherford Estate properties, too.
